Past Championships and being a good person: Luke Browning on 2024 Formula 3 Helmet Design

Luke Browning is certainly a name of everyone’s lips heading into the season finale in Monza, with the Hitech Pulse-Eight driver in the mix for the Drivers’ Championship crown.
But before we get to that, he recently sat down to discuss the helmet he has been using so far this year. He explains the inspiration behind it, as well as the message he sends himself through the design and why he might make subtle changes for next season.
Non-stop action around Silverstone: Christian Mansell’s dream race weekend

“Well, I had a white helmet for a very long time. I think my first couple of races in F4 I had a white helmet, still won a race though which was cool but from that point onwards there wasn’t a whole lot of inspiration behind it.
“To be honest the design was quite special for me, it’s always got something to do with the weather, like a storm or the universe, I really believe in what you think about, you bring about and being a good person in general and that sort of thing will always come back in a good way.
“That’s kind of the reasoning behind the top of the helmet, I think the way I got about things is the right way, being a nice person helmets and it’s a homage towards that.
“I’ve always had a similar layout on my helmets, the colour has changed quite a lot. So, I usually change the colours depending on the team that I am with, so I had silver last year for Hitech and blue this year for Williams but other than I’ve got a bit of a trophy cabinet at the back, all my Championships and my biggest success and the biggest things that stick out in my mind.
Kacper Sztuka: My Sporting Hero

“I’ve got a F4 Championship on there, a British Formula 3 Championship and of course the big most recent one, Macau. It would be nice to add Formula 3 to that season.
“The idea for this current one, the top came from myself but I always wanted a trophy cabinet on the back, and the rest I just liked the design of it. It was something that was created by Rennat Designs up in Scotland, and I’ve stuck with a particular theme throughout the year.
“Stilo design and paint my helmet from this point, they did both the design and the helmet for this year’s one, but I guess the original design came from Rennat Designs.
Noel León: My Greatest Influences

“My favourite part is the top. The trophy cabinet is cool because it reminds myself of my achievements so far and the bags of motivation there is to carry on pushing to add to it, but I think the top is the most special part for me.
“I think for next year I will go for a slightly different colourway. I’ll probably mix up the blue a little bit, go for a more metallic blue and maybe slightly deeper and darker but I should have another helmet coming before the end of the season so you should all keep an eye out for that.”
